“Designed to Perform, Built to Thrill”
Available in RSA MID 2026, Price TBA
Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced major updates to the engine and electronic control systems of its iconic supersport bike, the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R. Sales will commence worldwide, including in Europe and North America, starting from 2026.
The GSX-R series celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025 since the launch of the first generation GSX-R750 in 1985. To date, the series has an accumulated production of over 1.2 million units*. It has also achieved numerous racing victories, including 20 titles in the FIM Endurance World Championship, as well as successes in the Superbike World Championship and the All Japan Road Race Championship.
The GSX-R1000 has been the top model of the GSX-R series, launched in Europe, North America, and other markets since 2001. In 2024, the “Team Suzuki CN Challenge” competed in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race’s newly established “Experimental Class,” which features sustainable fuels and other innovations, and finished in 8th place.
For this model update, Suzuki has achieved further evolution by thoroughly revising internal engine components and equipping the latest electronic control systems, as well as a lithium-ion battery made by ELIIY Power, which is lightweight, compact, highly reliable, and has a wide thermal property range, all while complying with stringent emissions and noise regulations without compromising the high performance expected of “The King of Sportbikes”.

Main Updates to the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R
Engine
- ・The shapes of internal engine components such as injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, valves, pistons, and crankshafts have been comprehensively redesigned to meet strict emissions and noise regulations while maintaining high performance and enhancing durability.
- ・The maximum valve lift remains unchanged, but the lift curve has been modified to reduce camshaft overlap.
- ・The cam chain width has been increased to withstand the harsh conditions typical of endurance racing.
- ・The exhaust system’s shape and the arrangement of catalytic converters have been revised to balance emissions compliance with high output performance. The new layout also results in a slimmer, more stylish muffler body design.
Chassis
- ・The lightweight, compact, and highly rigid twin-spar aluminum frame, which has received high praise in the current model, continues to be used, delivering a harmonious balance of “run, turn, and stop” performance at a high level.
- ・Carbon fiber winglets, the same type used on the “Team Suzuki CN Challenge” bike at the 2024 Suzuka 8 Hours, will be offered as accessories (standard equipment in some regions) on the front cowl. These winglets generate downforce to suppress front lift during corner exits, enabling smoother acceleration.
S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System)
- ・Anti-lift control has been added to suppress front wheel lift during acceleration, supporting smoother acceleration.
- ・The Roll Torque control uses an IMU and wheel speed sensors to detect vehicle posture and speed, controlling rear-wheel power and torque based on the bike’s bank angle and wheel rotation. This system optimizes acceleration out of corners. Traction control, Anti-lift control, and Roll Torque control operate in coordination as the “Smart TLR System.”
Equipment
- ・A lithium-ion battery made by ELIIY Power, which is lightweight, compact, highly reliable, and has a wide thermal property range*, is equipped.
- *Wide thermal property range: controls battery performance decline due to temperature change
Design
- ・To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R series, three color schemes have been introduced:
-Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Tech White
-Candy Daring Red / Pearl Tech White
-Pearl Ignite Yellow / Metallic Mat Stellar Blue - ・The 40th anniversary graphics and emblems are applied to the vehicle’s sides, top of the fuel tank, and key mascot.
- ・The GSX-R logo is featured on the seat and muffler.
*This will be available in RSA Mid 2026 and Price To Be Announced.
